STAMATIS: 2009

Irakleia is a village close to Kerkini lake in Serres Prefecture. During the big religion fest of the nineth days of Madonna's death takes part a traditional wrestling game named 'Pehlivans wrestling'. Athletes come from the wide area of Serres prefecture and also from the south part of Bulgaria and west part of Turkey. Similar wrestling games take part during the summer time in other closer villages from Irakleia as Skotousa, Thermes and also in Thessaloniki Prefecture (Sohos) and in Organi village in Rhodopi Prefecture,Thraces.
